MUSEUM OF BRANDS YOUTUBE VLOG LIVE!

My Museum of Brands YouTube vlog is now live!

Link:-

I have been here before, several years ago, when this place was named the Museum of Brands, Packaging and Advertising.  Evidently, they've had a (ahem!) rebrand.

You start by taking a walk through their Time Tunnel, which shows how consumer culture has evolved from the Victorian time until the present day  The products range from "everyday" domestic goods, posters, packaging, toys and games.  The Time Tunnel was created by consumer historian Robert Opie, whose vision was to save packaging that would otherwise disappear forever.

There is an exhibition called AdWomen currently showing, and it celebrates 100 years of women in advertising.  Some of the cabinets look at women's changing roles over the years, and show skilful advertising aimed at women.  Beauty, for instance, is very big business!  Who could forget the "Hello Boys" Wonderbra ad, which features here?

Come and take a walk in my shoes and I'll show you a museum which offers a real nostalgia trip back into our childhoods, and there is something very Andy Warhol-esque about the way some of these items are displayed!

As you know, I will always be a writer before anything else, and my Museum of Brands blog can be found here:-

10 RILLINGTON PLACE YOUTUBE VLOG NOW LIVE!

My 10 Rillington Place YouTube vlog is now live!

Link:-

John Reginald Halliday Christie was one of the 20th century's most infamous British serial killers, and I decided that a trip to west London to see what's there in place of his house of horrors was in order.

Christie was one twisted individual but apparently, had you known him, you wouldn't have guessed what his sick hobby was as he hid beneath a cloak of respectability, and managed to send innocent Timothy Evans to the hangman; accused of two murders that he himself committed. His modus operandi was to gas and strangle his victims; raping them either whilst they were unconscious or ante-mortem. His house was literally bleeding bodies, as he hid them within the fabric of his home.

Amazingly, tenants continued to occupy 10 Rillington Place even after Christie had been hanged in 1953, right up to the time of its demolition (which took place in the early 1970s.) By that time it had been re-named Ruston Close. The whole area was rebuilt, to a different geographical layout, possibly to stop macabre people like myself going to see the location.

Come and take a walk in my shoes down Bartle Road, and I'll show you what's there now.
